Veneer slicing is a process of wood cross-cutting in order to obtain veneer sheets.
Depending on a slicing direction as to annular rings, a veneer texture figure will be the following:
-
radial (R) with annular rings having a shape of direct parallel lines, located all over the sheet surface, and wood rays having a shape of stripes, located at not less than 3/4 of the sheet area;
-
half radial (HR) with annular rings having a shape of direct parallel lines, located at not less than 3/4 of the sheet area; wood rays of the sheet have a shape of tilt and longitudinal stripes, located at not less than 1/2 of the sheet area;
-
tangential (Т) with annular rings having a shape of a apical cone, which is cut parallel to axis, angles or curved lines, and wood rays having a shape of longitudinal and tilt strokes and lines;
-
tangential and end (TE) with annular rings having a shape of closed curved lines and wood rays having a shape of curved lines and strokes.
